Philadelphia Airport Amberella Experiential Art Installation

Street Artist, Amberella, was tasked with conceptualizing an installation for Philadelphia International Airport. Her piece, FOLLOW UR HEART, is a vibrant think piece which encourages its viewers to DREAM IT, and BELIEVE IT.

Challenges

This bold installation was a departure from Amberella's usual graffiti and sticker based works. As such, she needed a partner to bring the trippy vision to life. BluEdge was brought in to aid in the manufacturing process. The first challenge was selecting the right materials. In collaboration with the artist, we selected 8 differently colored mirrored acrylics from which to cut out the 99 hearts required for the installation. The next challenge was to actually cut out the hearts and messaging:
  • Due to the fragility of the chosen material, it was crucial to ensure that the CNC-router was perfectly set up to carve out the delicate messaging
  • The work area had to remain spotless to avoid scratching the mirrored surface

Results

3D elements paired with wide format graphics came together to create FOLLOW UR HEART. Installed in terminal C-D connector of the Philadelphia International Airport, this piece encouraged viewers to DREAM IT and BELIEVE IT. The reflective material inspires travelers to look in the mirror and relate the message to each one’s personal journey.
